Case Study

AI Generated Activities

Role: Design Lead • Timeline: 2 months • Platform: Web and Mobile

Situation

Teachers love Seesaw because it engages students and saves them time with auto-graded questions, student work portfolios, and family connections. But creating high-quality interactive activities in Seesaw was still time-consuming. Most teachers already had curriculum materials, often PDFs or worksheets, that they are required to use. Re-creating these into Seesaw activities took longer than simply printing and grading them by hand.

Task

My challenge was to design a solution that removed this time barrier. The goal: make it simple for teachers to take their curriculum resources and instantly generate polished, interactive, and auto-graded Seesaw activities. This also aligned with Seesaw’s business opportunity—positioning us as a leader in AI-powered education tools as new AI budgets became available to schools.

Actions

  • Researched and benchmarked competitors and AI tools.
  • Sketched, wireframed, and prototyped flows, validating with curriculum experts, teachers, and leadership.
  • Built AI prototypes in Figma Make to test near-functional flows through Lyssna.
  • Iterated from usability tests. Teachers misunderstood “Crop”—they thought they needed to trim whitespace. I changed it to “Highlight Images” and referenced that text was already grabbed in the previous step, which resolved confusion.
  • Collaborated closely with PM and engineering in weekly syncs to define v1 scope and prioritize fast follows.

Results

The final solution was the Convert Resource Tool.

  • Upload curriculum → guided steps with smart defaults → polished, auto-graded activity ready to assign.
  • Engages students with Seesaw’s tools and loops in families automatically.
  • Clarified product’s AI value proposition and supported sales enablement.
